IPC The Hospitalist Company Acquires Tampa Practice

Expands Presence in Key Florida Market
North Hollywood, Calif., August 5, 2009 IPC The Hospitalist Company, Inc. (Nasdaq: IPCM), a leading national hospitalist physician group practice company, announced today that it has acquired Synergy Medical Group, Inc. in Tampa, Florida, building on IPC's established presence in this key market.
Synergy is a hospitalist group that serves three acute care hospitals, two long-term acute care hospitals and seventeen skilled nursing facilities in the Tampa Bay area. Both IPC and Synergy have provided services in this large and growing market for a number of years, although in different facilities. IPC expects to add approximately 51,000 patient encounters annually from this acquisition.
