North Hollywood, Calif., December 11, 2007 – IPC The Hospitalist Company, Inc. (IPC) announced today that it has contracted with Lapeer Regional Medical Center in Lapeer, Michigan to be the exclusive provider of hospitalist services. IPC physicians will care for both unassigned patients (those without a primary care physician), and for patients whose physicians want to utilize the specialized services of hospitalists. They will also serve as consultants to specialists whose patients are hospitalized.
The hospitalist program at Lapeer, a 222-bed acute care facility that is a subsidiary of McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint, Michigan, currently includes two full-time physicians and plans to add one or two more physicians in early 2008.
“We’re very pleased with the care and services that IPC hospitalists are providing to our patients and physicians,” said Lapeer Regional Medical Center President and CEO Barton P. Buxton. “With their strong focus, energy and enthusiasm, they have clearly set the bar and the expectation for excellence, helping us make our vision become reality.”
“Our inpatient management program, supported by IPC’s state-of-the-art technology, aims to boost efficiency of care, reduce unnecessary patient days spent in the hospital because of physician delays, and enhance patient satisfaction,” said Executive Director of IPC-Michigan Skip Strauchman. “IPC is privileged and honored to partner with Lapeer in their innovative efforts to continually improve the quality of care they provide to the community.”
