  3. Family. St. Louis’ neighborhoods foster connectivity among people that is rare today in large metropolitan areas; people develop strong ties to their surroundings.
  4. Culture. St. Louis has a robust cultural scene that includes dance and theater, museums, music venues, galleries, and fine restaurants.
  5. Recreation. Greater St. Louis boasts myriad recreational opportunities, including more than 100 golf courses, more than 100 parks, and about 200 miles of trails for cycling, running and walking.
  6. Weather. St. Louis has four very distinct seasons with a moderate climate throughout winter months.  Temperatures range in the 20's to 30's in winter and 70's to 80's in summer.
St. Louis Fun Fact
The site of St. Louis, named for Louis IX of France, was selected as a fur trading post in 1764 because it was not subject to flooding, yet was near where the Mississippi and Missouri rivers meet.

    Executive Director Glenn Appelbaum received his Bachelor in Business Administration  in 1977 from the University of Missouri in St. Louis.  Glenn comes to IPC from Unity Health/Alexian Brothers Hospital in St. Louis, where from 1985 to 1999 he was senior vice president and vice president of managed care/physician services, vice president of finance and planning, and director of planning.  As senior vice president, Glenn was responsible for day-to-day operations which included a 10 physician primary care practice, long term care services, a 40 physician IPA, hospital plant operations and security, physician relations/recruitment, mission integration, medical staff coordination, medical records and admitting.  Glenn is a CPA and has also earned a Certified Healthcare Executive (CHE) certification from the American College of Healthcare Executives. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

    Janell Closson joined IPC as Director of Business Development in June 2008. She has over 13 years of managed healthcare experience in both the pharmaceutical and medical arenas, focusing on contracting, marketing, recruitment, and provider/network management. Janell received her Bachelor of Arts from Illinois State University and a Master of Arts in Business Management from Webster University in Webster Groves, Missouri.

    Mike joined IPC as Director of Business Development in November 2007. He has spent the last 20 years in the healthcare sector, where he held positions providing a broad scope of experience in clinical and business environments.  Mike’s areas of expertise include marketing, provider relations, network/referral development, recruitment, contracting, and client support management.  He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Missouri, St. Louis, which was preceded by 4 years of service as a Navy Hospital Corpsman.

    Sylvia Congleton joined IPC as Director of Business Development in September 2003 and was promoted to Director of Operations in September 2007.  Sylvia joins IPC with 6 years of healthcare experience in both the hospital and physician delivery system. Prior to joing IPC, Sylvia was a sales representative with the TALX Corporation. She received her Bachelor of Science in Health Administration from Winthrop University in South Carolina.

Gloria Humphrey, a Regional Manager of Physician Staffing, joined IPC in 2008 after previously recruiting hospitalists for Cogent Healthcare. She started in physician recruiting more than 17 years ago with Quorum Health in Nashville, serving for eight years at HCA MidAmerica Division and Tennessee hospitals, recruiting all specialties. Gloria also worked for Cookeville Regional Medical Center before joining Cogent, where she recruited hospitalists in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, Iowa and Wisconsin.

Gloria is a founding member and four-year officer of the Tennessee Association of Healthcare Recruiters. She received her CMSR in 1995 and she has a BBA degree from Austin Peay State University.   She is an active member of ASPR.
