Inland Empire in Brief

The Inland Empire, a metropolitan area centered around Riverside and San Bernardino, was named to distinguish it from Southern California’s coastal regions. With great proximity to Orange County, Los Angeles and San Diego, it’s only an hour drive to some of California’s beautiful coastal towns. The Inland Empire serves as a backdrop to numerous Hollywood films and is the birthplace of California’s citrus industry.

Riverside is home of the Famous Mission Inn, a National Historic Landmark that’s been a keystone of downtown since 1876, when it was a 12-room adobe boarding house. Today, the Mission Inn Hotel & Spa has 239 guest rooms.

    Steve Peterson joined IPC in July 2004 after nearly two decades working in the Las Vegas healthcare market. Before his arrival at IPC, Steve held positions as a hospital CEO and executive with several other diverse healthcare businesses including an EMS provider and large health insurance company. In addition to managing the Las Vegas market for IPC, Steve is also responsible for IPC's practice operations in Northern California. He holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees from The Indiana University School of Medicine and was previously certified as a nuclear medicine and x-ray technologist. Steve has extensive experience working with physician providers, payers, hospitals and government regulators.

    Andrew Assalian joined IPC in February 2007 with over 15 years of experience in the bio-medical field. His diverse work experience includes medical practice development, project management and scientific research. Prior to joining IPC, Andrew established Natural Medicine Works, a family medicine practice with multiple offices in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is a former project manager for Immunex Corporation, now Amgen, working to usher experimental drugs through clinical trials. Andrew started his biomedicine career performing scientific research into DNA vaccines at the prestigious Wistar Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. Andrew received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from SUNY College of Environmental Science in Syracuse, New York.

Babette Heller is a pioneer hospitalist recruiter who joined IPC in 1999, while the company was in its infancy. A Director of Physician Staffing, she has nearly 25 years of healthcare recruitment experience. Before her tenure with IPC, Babette gained valuable experience as a physician recruiter with Kaiser Permanente of Southern California, where she hired predominantly primary care physicians. Babette joined Kaiser after 10 years with CIGNA as its physician recruiter in Southern California. She began her career in healthcare recruitment at the National Medical Enterprises. Babette received her BA in sociology. from UCLA. She is an active member of the ASPR.
