Adam D. Singer, M.D., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Adam D. Singer, M.D. Dr. Singer has been a director, Chairman, and our Chief Executive Officer since he founded IPC in 1995, and in 2006, was designated as our Chief Medical Officer. In 1991, Dr. Singer acquired a private practice in pulmonary medicine that shortly thereafter merged with two other pulmonary physicians to become part of Consultants For Lung Disease, Inc. Dr. Singer received his B.S. in Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles and his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University. Dr. Singer performed a post-doctoral internship and residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in pulmonary medicine at University of Southern California.
R. Jeffrey Taylor, President and Chief Operating OfficerR. Jeffrey Taylor. Mr. Taylor has been a director and our President and Chief Operating Officer since he joined IPC in July 2000. Prior to joining IPC, Mr. Taylor was the executive vice president of Atlanta-based Mariner Post-Acute Network. Prior to that, Mr. Taylor was chief executive officer of American Outpatient Services, Inc. and held various positions including executive vice president, chief administrative officer and general counsel with American Medical International, Inc. (now Tenet Healthcare Corp.; NYSE-THC). Mr. Taylor also serves on the board of directors of Dormir, Inc. Mr. Taylor received a B.S. from the University of Utah and a J.D. from the University of Utah College of Law. Mr. Taylor has more than 25 years of experience in the areas of acute-care, sub-acute care and the outpatient dialysis segments of the healthcare industry.
Rick Kline, Chief Financial OfficerRick Kline. Mr. Kline joined IPC in November 2011 as Chief Financial Officer. From 2007 until March 2011, Mr. Kline served first as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and later as President and Chief Operating Officer of Castle & Cooke, Inc., a consortium of businesses in real estate, hospitality, golf courses, restaurants, warehousing/logistics, building materials, aviation, life sciences, oil and gas, and transportation. From 1991 to 2007, Mr. Kline was with Ernst and Young, LLP, serving most recently as Partner of the Assurance and Advisory Business Services group in the Los Angeles office. He received his BS in Accounting from the University of Southern California.
Kelli T. Newman, General Counsel and Corporate SecretaryKelli T. Newman. Ms. Newman joined IPC in October 2014 as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Most recently, Newman served as General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer of Reachout Healthcare America in Phoenix, Arizona. Prior to that, she served as a partner first with DLA Piper, LLP and then with the Dentons, in Chicago.Ms. Newman earned her Bachelor's degree from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Illinois, and her Juris Doctor degree from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago. She received her MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Master of Laws in Taxation from Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago.
Richard Russell, Exec. Vice President and Chief Development OfficerRichard G. Russell. Mr. Russell has been our Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer since he joined IPC in March 2003. Prior to joining our Company, Mr. Russell was senior vice president of information technology and business planning for Cogent Healthcare, Inc., a national hospitalist organization, from 2002 to March 2003. Mr. Russell began his career as a senior consultant with McKinsey & Company and then held executive level positions in several entrepreneurial and healthcare operating companies. Mr. Russell received a B.S. in chemical engineering from the Case Western Reserve University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and has 23 years experience in health care services.
Kerry Weiner M.D., Chief Medical OfficerKerry Weiner M.D. Kerry Weiner M.D. joined IPC in March 2011 in the newly created position of Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Weiner leads the clinical functions of the Company and is charged with continuing the development of hospitalist leaders throughout IPC. Most recently, Dr. Weiner held the position of Chief Medical Officer for the Lakeside Medical Organization, a multispecialty group of 130 physicians and an IPA (Independent Practice Association) of approximately 2200 physicians. Dr. Weiner was one of the earliest proponents of hospitalists in Southern California, having utilized them at Lakeside since 1991. A co-founder of Lakeside Medical Group, Dr. Weiner served as president of the integrated medical group for 14 years. Dr. Weiner received his medical degree, masters in public health and bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Fernando J. Sarria, Senior Vice President of Finance and Chief Accounting Officer
Mr. Sarria joined IPC in April 2001 and serves as our Senior Vice President of Finance and Chief Accounting Officer. Prior to joining our company, Mr. Sarria was vice president of finance at Bentley Health Care, Inc., a national organization that manages and operates physician practices, comprehensive outpatient treatment centers for cancer and end-stage renal disease. Mr. Sarria was previously chief financial officer at Pacific Oaks Medical Group, Inc., one of the largest HIV/AIDS medical providers in the country. Mr. Sarria received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from California State University, Long Beach. Mr. Sarria has over 25 years of executive healthcare management experience and began his professional career with KPMG as a specialist in healthcare. Mr. Sarria is also a registered certified public accountant in the State of California.
Glenn Appelbaum, Senior Vice President of OperationsGlenn joined IPC in 1999 as Regional Executive Director for St. Louis MO. He currently has field operations responsibilities nationally while he continues to manage over 200 providers in five states. Prior to joining IPC, Glenn was with Unity Health/Alexian Brothers Hospital in St. Louis, where from 1985 to 1999 he held several executive positions including senior vice president, vice president of managed care/physician services, vice president of finance and planning, and director of planning. As vice president of managed care / physician services, he was responsible for day-to-day operations which included physician primary care practices, long term care services, a 40-physician IPA, and physician relations/recruitment. As Senior Vice President, he was responsible for the total operations of the 200 bed acute care hospital. Glenn received his Bachelor in Business Administration degree in 1977 from the University of Missouri in St. Louis. He is also a CPA and a Fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives.
Jeffrey L. Winter, Senior Vice President of Sales & MarketingJeffrey Winter joined the IPC team as the Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing in May of 2014. In his role Jeff leads the nationwide sales and marketing efforts for IPC. Jeff most recently served as the Vice President of New Business Development for Correctional Medical Services, Inc. / Corizon Health, the market leader in correctional healthcare. Prior to that position, Jeff served as Chief of Staff for KPMG, coordinating the business development efforts for their National Healthcare & Pharmaceutical Practice. Jeff earned his bachelor’s degree in economics, business administration from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, and received his MBA in Finance from Webster University.
Felix Aguirre, M.D., Vice President of Medical AffairsFelix Aguirre, M.D. joined IPC in April 2003 and is responsible for the medical and leadership oversight and development of IPC’s physicians and providers. Dr. Aguirre has been actively involved in hospitalist medicine for more than 13 years. He was a founder of Alamo City Medical Group, which currently employs 20 providers, and Alamo Inpatient Management Systems, which operated in San Antonio from 1996 to 1999, providing hospitalist services for a local MSO and several medical group practices. In 2000 he co-founded Hospitalists of San Antonio and served as president until the company merged with IPC in early 2003. Dr. Aguirre attended The U.S. Military Academy at West Point for undergraduate studies and the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio for medical school and residency.
Mark C. Citron, Ph.D., Vice President Information SystemsMark Citron, who joined IPC in July 1999, is responsible for the development, management and architecture of leading-edge information systems. He came to IPC from Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles, where he directed the strategy for network and desktop technologies and Oracle development for 11 years. Mark was also responsible for the creation of an advanced clinical data repository that integrated data from disparate hospital systems. Mark currently serves on the board of the Los Angeles Oracle Users Group and is a nationally recognized Oracle applications development expert. Mark received his Doctorate in Neurobiology from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, and a Bachelor in Physics from Purdue University. Mark also holds an MBA from USC’s Marshall School of Business.
Roie Edery, Vice President of IT OperationsRoie joined IPC in September 2000. Roie plays a significant role in ensuring continual operations of the IT systems throughout IPC. Additionally, Roie manages the Company’s IT infrastructure planning and systems implementation. In keeping with his passion for integrating software design with user experience, Roie has led the development of innovative social engagement tools that optimize clinical communications and collaboration amongst IPC Hospitalists and administrators. Roie is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) by the IAPP and is active in both the information privacy and enterprise collaboration communities. Roie graduated from Western Governors University with a Bachelor in Information Technology Management.
John Fretz, FACHE, Vice President of Corporate DevelopmentJohn joined IPC in March 2012 as Vice President of Corporate Development. Previously, John was Vice President of Business Development for Emergency Consultants, Inc., a national emergency services and hospitalist management company. John is a seasoned healthcare executive with over 22 years progressive experience in both acute and post-acute care operations. He has held various executive level positions over a seventeen year period with the Carilion Health System in Roanoke, Virginia; twelve of which were as CEO of Bedford Memorial Hospital. Mr. Fretz has also served as Executive Director of the Trinity Towers Senior Living Network in Corpus Christi, Texas and as CEO of Doctors Healthcare Center; a 325 bed post-acute facility in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Fretz received his Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Jamie S. Glazer, Vice President Financial Analysis & Revenue ControlsJamie Glazer joined IPC in December 1999 and has responsibilities that include strategic planning and revenue analysis. She supports both corporate and regional operations by providing analysis, auditing and reporting related to accounts receivable, provider productivity, revenue calculation, budgeting, billing, and contracting. Previously, Jamie managed the analytical department for the physicians at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. Her work provided the physicians with an in-depth understanding of their business as well as an effective communication link between the management company and the medical group. Previously, she worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Hawaii (HMSA) in their subsidiary, a 100+ provider dental group. Jamie received her Bachelor in Mathematics and Master in Education of Mathematics from UCLA.
Patrick Holmes, Vice President of TechnologyPat Holmes joined IPC in 1998 and is the resident architect and designer of the IPC-Link technology. Pat is an experienced computer programmer and trainer who specializes in Oracle products. Pat has presented papers on various Oracle Developer topics at numerous conferences, and he is also president of the Los Angeles Oracle Users Group. Prior to joining IPC, Pat managed software development for an INC-500 company that sold computerized accounting and management systems to the graphic-arts/printing industry throughout North America. Pat graduated from Swarthmore College with a Bachelor in Psychology and interests in economics and computer science.
Timothy Lary, Vice President Physician StaffingTimothy Lary joined the IPC team as Vice President of Physician Staffing in September 2004. In this position, he directs the physician recruitment and retention strategies for the organization. Tim has more than 15 years of recruitment experience focused in healthcare. Prior to joining IPC, Tim was with US Oncology, a national cancer care company, where he helped grow the network from 240 physicians in 1997 to more than 900 by 2004. Previously, he worked as a consultant with The Rottman Group, a healthcare recruiting firm focused on building and developing management teams within private and public hospitals and healthcare systems. Tim earned his Bachelor in Business Administration, with a concentration in Economics, from Harding University.
Kathleen Loya, Vice President Health ServicesKathleen Loya has been with IPC since August 1998. She is responsible for IPC’s clinical data analysis and reporting activities, including design of clinical studies, web-enabled clinical reporting, and other ad hoc analysis. She manages IPC’s Post-discharge Call Center, IPC-Link training for physicians, risk management and billing compliance. Kathy is also the company’s Compliance Officer and Privacy Officer. Prior to joining IPC, Kathy was vice president of healthcare for CareAmerica Health Plan. Before that, she was the vice president of clinical services at San Gabriel Valley Medical Center. Kathy holds a Bachelor in Healthcare Management from the University of La Verne and is certified in Healthcare Compliance. She is the author of several publications and has taught numerous healthcare-related courses.
Marcie Matthews, Vice President, Corporate DevelopmentMarcie Matthews joined the Corporate Development team in October 2006. Her primary focus is in seeking out and negotiating partnerships with practice groups who may be interested in becoming part of the IPC family. Marcie resides in Dallas, Texas. Prior to joining IPC, Marcie headed the traveling nurse division as vice president of Intelistaf Healthcare. She had responsibility for over $120 million in revenue and contracted with 450 acute care hospitals in 47 states. Marcie received her Bachelor of Science in Communications and Political Science from Trinity University in San Antonio.
Robert Roig, Vice President of Corporate ContractingRobert Roig. Mr. Roig joined IPC in April of 2013 as Vice President of Corporate Contracting, providing strategic planning, leadership and oversight of the department . Prior to joining IPC Mr. Roig served as the Vice President of Managed Care and Physician Services from 2005 to 2013 at Vantage Oncology, a nation-wide developer and operator of Radiation Oncology facilities where he oversaw the management, securing and renegotiation of payer contracts as well as physician recruitment. Mr. Roig holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences degree from the University of Arizona and a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from California State University, Northridge
Cary Rosoff, Vice President, Corporate DevelopmentCary joined the Corporate Development team in January 2010. His main responsibilities are the acquisition of physician practice groups in the acute care and post-acute care settings. In his career, Cary has focused on business development and acquisitions in a variety of industries. Most recently Cary was a senior executive at BrightHeart Veterinary Centers, a privately-held national group of specialty veterinary facilities where he was one of the founders of the company, helping it to grow from inception to over $50 million in revenue. Cary received his Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Fullerton and his MBA from University of Southern California.
Fred Torres, Vice President Central Business Office
Fred Torres joined IPC in August 2002. His responsibilities include billing and collections, accounts receivable, denials management and payor analysis. Previously, Fred was senior financial analyst with Kaiser Permanente overseeing a $40M regional managed care hospital contract. Fred has over 20 years of health care management and reimbursement experience, including positions with the Principal Financial Group and as director of reimbursement with Pacific Oaks Medical Group. Fred received his Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA.
