Company History

Founded by physicians in 1995, IPC has grown to become the nation’s leading private practice hospitalist group. IPC’s providers, support staff, operations, and technology are all focused on driving the health care delivery system towards better, more efficient and high quality inpatient care.  Today the Company manages over 150 practice groups, providing care in over 500 medical facilities in 21 states.

IPC has taken a leadership role in the emergence of this new medical specialty and today has over 1400 affiliated providers in the U.S.  IPC works closely with approximately 30,000 referring primary care physicians and specialists and more than 1,000 health plans, to manage more than $1 billion in healthcare expenditures annually.

On January 24, 2008, IPC became the first practice group exclusively focused on hospital medicine to become a publicly traded company.
